Dade County Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Elections Building
TRENTON, Ga. — The Dade County Board of Commissioners hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026 for the county’s new Elections Building on Georgia Avenue in Trenton.
Members of the Board of Commissioners were joined by the Dade County Board of Elections, county officials, community leaders and residents to mark the beginning of construction on the purpose-built facility, which will serve as the permanent location for Dade County’s elections operations.
Chairman Don Townsend emphasized the county’s responsibility to provide appropriate infrastructure for the administration of elections.
“Today is not about celebration. It is about responsibility,” Townsend said. “It is about ensuring that Dade County has the structure necessary to administer elections properly, and that the individuals who carry out this work have what they need to be successful in their service to this community.”
The new facility will provide dedicated space for equipment, training and administrative functions in a single location, supporting the secure and professional conduct of elections in accordance with state law.
The project is funded through SPLOST, which is designated for capital improvements. County leadership has stated that the facility is intended to meet operational and legal requirements while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Construction will be overseen by Robert Roberts, owner and general contractor of Robert Roberts LLC of Chattanooga. Work is expected to proceed in the coming months. The county extends its appreciation to Robert Roberts LLC for providing ceremonial materials for the groundbreaking.
